Accountant & Finance Business Partner Jacob Tagayon

Tell us about your role with Export Finance Australia.

I joined Export Finance Australia as a Financial Accountant in April 2019. My role has since expanded to include business partnering to support key stakeholders achieve their business objectives through planning and reporting.

I am also involved in the preparation of statutory and management reports and working on process efficiency projects. The opportunities within both financial and management accounting, and the diversity of the role are truly invaluable to me.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Export Finance Australia is a dynamic and agile workplace, which is reflected in the variety of customers we support. Apart from our continuously evolving business, I am proud to be part of a team that supported Australian exporters affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This ever-changing environment means a ‘typical’ workday is never mundane. One day I am building dashboards for Management and the next, I am accounting transactions for customers impacted by COVID-19. There is always an opportunity to work on a new task or another process improvement project to be implemented.

What is the absolute best part of your role?

I get to experience the best of both the financial and management accounting worlds while contributing to helping Australian exporters and the broader economy.
